Pysanky Workshop, 25 March 2026

Learn how to  make exquisite and beautifully decorated Easter eggs called pysanky in workshop led by artist Helena Orlowski and
Nataliya Cummings, and hosted by Ukrainian chef Olia Hercules in East
London. This centuries old tradition, dating back to pre-Christian times
celebrates the arrival of Spring and the celebration of Easter.
Ukrainians decorate their homes and their Easter food baskets with
pysanky. Event if it’s not part of your native cultural landscape, you are every welcome to come as it is a beautiful art form and Ukrainian tradition that we would love to spread far and wide.

The workshop is 4 hours long, and suitable for all levels, both beginners and
those with more experience.  You will learn traditional batik techniques,
using wax and candles to draw on your eggs.  These will then be dipped in dyes and at the end, the wax will be melted to reveal your own creative art work.

The price includes all materials necessary and a delicious lunch cooked by Olia (dietaries accommodated)  This class gets booked up very quickly and spaces are limited. 10% of profits will be donated to NGO Molotok in Ukraine, who help internally displaced children and their families.
